Make sandwiches as usual. Use your mini cookie cutters and press up to 4 mini sandwich shapes per bread. These are great for teas, parties, showers and weddings. Or use a full size cookie cutter and make a nice surprise holiday sandwich in someone’s lunchbox.
You may also want to experiment with just cutting the bread, then add sandwich filling like peanut butter and jelly or egg salad.

Party Mood Pancakes

The easiest way to make cookie cutter shaped pancakes is to make a regular pancake and then cut it out. But for a nicer effect, start with a hot pan. Spray cooking spray inside a STAINLESS STEEL METAL cookie cutter that has a handle on top. The handle is a must so you can hold the cookie cutter down while you slowly pour the pancake batter into it. Hold in place a few seconds for the pancake to set. You can add a few drops of food coloring appropriate to a holiday, too.

Other breakfast cookie cutter ideas are shaped fried eggs and sausage patties.

Party Platter

Buy lunchmeat and cheese. Ask them to slice it about a ¼ inch thick. Use your mini cutters again to make fun shapes and arrange on a platter. Or you can top crackers with your savory shapes. Makes a nice hostess gift. And you can eat all the cut off pieces!

Hamburger and Meatloaf Molds

Holiday Toast

Lighly press cookie cutter into untoasted bread. Toast in the toaster as usual. The cookie cutter shape should be highlighted on the toast. Or press after toasting and fill the shape with colored sugar and cinnamon.

Butter Shapes

Fruit Windows

Press mini cookie cutters into fruit with thin skins like apples. Press lightly and peel away the skin. Makes cute baked apples, too.

Cut Out Biscuits

Cheese Spread Shapes

This works especially well with oiled cookie molds versus cookie cutters.

Shape Ordinary Food

Use your cookie cutters to create shapes with mashed potatoes, sticky rice, tuna or chicken salad. Make garnishes with colored bell peppers.

Creative Eggs in a Nest

A take off on an old favorite. Cut out the center of the toast using a cookie cutter shape.

Pretty Desserts

Press cookie cutter into an iced cake. Use a pastry tube to color the indent line and/or color in the middle.

Cut out shapes from rolled fondant and add to a cake. This works really well with flowers. Try coloring small balls of fondant and mixing together to create swirly colors.

Gently place an open cookie cutter on top of a cake. Sprinkle colored or powered sugar. Works nicely on an unfrosted cake. Jimmies work nicely on a frosted cake. Or, spread jam inside the cookie cutter.

Use your alphabet cookie cutters to make a name or message on a cake.

Slice a pound cake into ½ inch slices. Press with cookie cutter shapes. Frost. Serve or use to decorate a larger cake.

Cut out shapes in pie crust. Lay on top of pie to create an interesting pie top.

Fancy Fruit

When making a melon basket, scoop out some large pieces and slice about a ¼ inch thick. Use your melon baller to fill most of the basket. Use your mini cookie cutters to make festive melon cut outs on top.

Or insert a lollipop stick and freeze the melon for a cool, healthy summer treat. Experiment with skewers and put a few pieces on one to serve to the adults.

For more fruit inspiration, or if you don’t have time to make your own, check out Edible Arrangements.

Rice Krispies Treats®
Cut out your treats and serve on a platter or cut and DON’T remove from the cookie cutter. Instead, decorate with candies and frosting. Let set and wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Hand out as tiny take home gifts and favors.

Fruit Pop Freezies

Wrap one side of the cookie cutter tightly with aluminum foil. I recommend you buy the good foil for this. Pour in juice and freeze. I have had more success by partly freezing the juice, slushing it in the blender and then filling the cookie cutters.

Stained “Glass” Candy

Again, wrap one side of the STAINLESS STEEL METAL cookie cutter tightly with aluminum foil. I recommend you buy the good foil for this. Spray inside with cooking spray and set on a cookie sheet. Place hard candy pieces inside the cookie cutter and melt in the oven. Jolly Rancher candies give you clear “glass”. Peppermints make opaque glass. I tried this two years ago and it is very messy and hard to get right so you are warned.

Another twist. Roll out cookie dough. Cut large round cookies with a juice glass. Cut out shapes with mini cookie cutters from the center of these round cookies. Crush any hard candy and place in the center of the cookie. Bake as usual.

Chocolate

Cookie cutters and cookie molds can be used to create chocolate shapes. You can wrap cutters with foil and pour in melted chocolate or spread melted chocolate in a jelly roll pan lined with waxed paper and cut out just like dough. Use to top cakes or garnish a cookie platter.

Chocolate Marshmallows and S’more Fondue

Cut a large marshmallow in half through the diameter. Cut into a shape with a mini cookie cutter. Dip in melted chocolate. Sprinkle with jimmies. Let cool. Or serve cut out marshmallows around a chocolate fondu with cut out bits of graham cracker for fondue s’mores. Put out tiny bowls of sprinkles and jimmies for dipping. And don’t just make this for the kids. Everyone loves s’mores.

Petit Fours

Make sweet petit fours cutting out and stacking slices of pound cake, fondant and jams. Or make savory petit fours cutting out and stacking deli meat, cheese and pickles.

Brownie Cut Outs

Bake brownies in a large cake pan so they come out thinner than usual. Cut shapes with cookie cutters. Eat the leftovers!

Fudge Plus

Cut set fudge with cookie cutters. Then dip in melted, colored white chocolate. And sprinkles or nuts.

Cookie Decorating Party

Bake ahead a variety of simple shapes. Provide plenty of icing and candies and sprinkles or ask the guests to bring some. For children, this is a fun activity when the adults are doing less fun stuff. Or add to the activity list of a birthday party.

For really simple decorating fun, use edible marking pens.

Use cookie cutter shapes to punch out a scooped out pumpkin. Or lightly press into any gourd and carefully peel away the outer layer whether it is scooped or not for the latest decorator look.

Play Dough

Use cookie cutters and cookie molds to cut out Play Dough and modeling clay. Make your own Play Dough:

No-Cook Playdough

1 cup water
3 cups flour
1 ½ cup salt
¼ cup of oil
Food coloring

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Add flour till it is not too sticky. Let the kids roll out on the table and cut with cookie cutters. You can let these dry and paint. Store soft dough in the refrigerator in a tightly closed plastic bag.

Crayon Shapers

Tightly wrap cookie cutter bottom. Use the good foil for this and STAINLESS STEEL METAL cookie cutters. Lay on a cookie sheet. Remove any paper from broken and short crayons. Place in the cookie cutter. Melt in the oven and cool. Kids have unique shaped crayons.

To make a bunch of these, melt the crayons in the oven on an old cookie sheet. While still warm, cut out with cookie cutters. Let cool before removing.

Make a batch of these for a birthday party favor. Adults like to color, too. At your next casual party, lay white butcher block on the table and give everyone crayon shapes. Or poke a hole while the crayon is still warm and use to tie onto gift packages.

Potato Ink Stamp

Soap Crayons

Take one cup of soap flakes or shaved soap pieces (good way to use those old pieces). Stir in 2 Tablespoons of water and a few drops of food coloring. Stir until thick then spoon into your cookie cutter or cookie mold. Press the soap in tightly then let dry for a few days.

Guest Soap

You can skip the food coloring and mold your own guest soap. Or you can buy ready made melt and pour soap. Soap making is an easy and fun craft. Your cookie cutters will add to the shapes you can make. Make soap for every occasion or interest. Use in your bathroom or as party favors or even gifts.

Sand Box or Beach

Shape wet sand and let dry. Create imprints on your sand castles.

Make a Wind Chime

Candles

Buy ready to use candle making supplies and use your METAL STAINLESS STEEL cookie cutters as molds. The easiest way is to pour the wax to about 1/8th to ¼ inch in a foil lined cookie pan. Cut out two shapes while the wax is still warm and pliable. Sandwich the wick between the two soft shapes and gently press together. Let harden.

Or you can use ½ inch wax and cut out cute floating candles.

Make a simple candle holder. Roll clay to 1/4” thick. Use a small juice glass to cut out a round bottom. Then cut a square piece and cut out the middle with a cookie cutter shape. Gently bend the square so that it can sit on top of the round bottom and press the two together. Let dry or fire. Place tealight or votive in a glass candles behind the cut out shape.

Ceramics

Love ceramics class? Make your own shapes out of Plaster of Paris and paint. Make interesting shelf knickknacks, sweet grandparent gifts or package tie ons.

Photos

Cut photos using larger simple shapes like hearts and flowers. Add to a collage or scrapbook. Or cut from pretty paper and mount pictures on the paper.

Cut two pieces of sturdy construction paper about the size of a small picture frame. Using a cookie cutter as a stencil, cut out the inside of one of the pieces of construction paper. Layer over a picture, then over the plain remaining piece. Makes a nice gift for a grandparent or parent. Or let the kids frame their favorite pictures for their rooms. Instead of photos, let them frame magazine clippings of their favorite tween idol.

Just Stencils

Create your own iron on appliqués

Quilt pieces

Fabric painting

One of a kind gift wrap

Last year’s Christmas cards recycled as gift tags.

Make a trinket box.

Make coasters from thin sponge or cork.

Napkins and table cloths with indelible fabric markers and paint.

Fabric catnip cat toys.

Easter Egg Mini Pinata

Blow up a balloon. Coat with paper mache leaving the narrow end open. Paint. Cut cookie cutter shapes from tissue paper. Decopague onto your egg. Add a clear top coat. Fill with Easter treats.

For a full size piñata, use a beach ball.

Holidays

Any of the “other uses” items, including cookies, can be made for occasions and holidays. Just vary the cookie cutters and colors.
Birthday parties
Showers
Weddings
Fourth of July
St. Patrick’s Day
Easter
Halloween
And so on.

Cookie Cutter Charades

Put cookie cutters in a bowl. One person pulls out a cutter, carefully hiding it from the other players. This person then acts out the cookie cutter. The winning guesser gets to eat a cookie.

Outside

Cut bread in shapes to hang for the birds

Treasure Stones

1 cup flour
1 cup used coffee grinds
1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup sand
3/4 cup water
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to form dough. Press the dough into cookie cutters or molds to make shapes. Imbed a small trinket inside. Or you can simple roll them between your palms free form to look like rocks. Dry for 2 – 3 days in a warm place like your furnace room. Break with a small hammer. Kids LOVE that part. You can speed the process by baking on a cookie sheet at 150 degrees for 15-20 minutes but this will limit what you can put in the rocks. The dough can also be tinted with food coloring.

Treasure rocks are good for party favors, scavenger hunts and Easter egg hunts. A simple filler could be varies coin denominations. Or you might want to make one to hide your spare key.

Rainy Day

Have a roll of cookie dough, store bought or homemade in the freezer. When the kids are whining they have nothing to do, bring out the cookie cutters. Slice and shape. Decorate for hours.

Display Your Cookie Cutter Collection

Don’t hide your cookie cutters in a drawer. Display them in a shadow box or directly on the wall. Fill a large clear jar and set them on the counter. Or display in a pretty wicker basket.

Decorate a Kid’s Room

Use as stencils to create painting stamps or cut out textured fabrics like felt and carpet pieces to create mobiles and wall treatments. Trace shapes on bare wooden floors and paint.

Hang in Window

Hang the cookie cutters like you would a sun catcher. Or make a sun catcher:
In a saucepan, heat 8-10 Tbs. of water with a few drops of food coloring. Gradually stir in 3 envelopes of unflavored gelatin and stir continuously for about a minute until thickened. Pour the gelatin mixture onto a small cookie sheet or any heat resistant, large flat container. Pop the air bubbles and let cool for about an hour. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and a toothpick or small straw to make hanger holes. Let dry for several days before hanging.

Glass Wax Stencil

Cat Grass

Do you grow grass for your cat to nibble? Next time, lay a cookie cutter over the potting soil and sprinkle seeds in the shape. You can use a cat shaped cookie cutter or a bird or mouse and grow “cat grass”.

Tile Magic

Before you go out and buy those expensive accent tiles, try creating your own. Roll out clay to about a ¼ inch. Cut with cookie cutter shape. Let dry or fire. Paint, decoupage or glaze as desired. Crazy glue to plain tiles.
Or crazy glue small cookie cutters directly onto tiles. Copper or stainless steel look especially nice.

Dog Bones

Make your pup his own special treats. Just whip up this recipe and cut with doggie bone cookie cutters.

Sponge Art

Start with a dry sponge. Press a large cookie cutter really hard into the sponge. Then cut around the outline. Let the kids use these to stamp with paint. Or use them yourself to create wall borders. Charming in kid’s rooms, kitchens and baths.

Curtain Tie Backs

Pulls

Use cookie cutters as window shade pulls, ceiling fan and light pulls. Use mini cutters as cabinet door knobs and drawer pulls.

Garden Guardians

Use quick set concrete mix to create cookie cutter shapes tiny pathways for elves in flower beds. Pouring new cement? Decorate a corner with a few cookie cutter imprints. Let the kids pick their favorite shape and sign inside with their name and date.
Or pour quick set into cookie cutters to create one of a kind paper weight gifts.

Wall Hanging

Start with a plain wreath or straw broom. Decorate with seasonal ribbons and cookie cutters. Change these with the changing seasons.

Follow the Leader

Know someone who cuts out wood shapes? Trace and cut a large dog and puppy size shapes out of wood. Wood burn or paint each family member’s name on one of the dogs. Large for the parents, pups for the kids. Mount the shapes standing upright on a slab of wood burned with “The Smiths”. You can also add the shapes like a plaque for hanging on the door or gate. Makes a lovely gift, especially for a house warming. Choose your shapes based on the family’s favorite interest. Sail boats, bowling pins, flowers, the choices are endless.

Tree Ornaments

Hang cookie cutters directly on the tree or let kids stencil heavy construction paper or poster board. Older kids can do their own cutting. You will have to cut for the little ones. Then provide plenty of markers and glue and glitter. Let them string their homemade ornaments in their rooms.

Attach your decorated stenciled creations or the cookie cutters themselves to pretty wide ribbon and hang lengthwise. Or attach to thinner ribbon, twine or raffia and use like garland.

Let the kids cut out clay shapes and decorate. Have them sign and date the back to create future heirlooms you can give them when they are grown. Or let them create gifts for grandparents.

Wrap a cookie cutter with ribbon and glue behind it a photo or cut out Christmas card.

These tips can be adapted for any holiday.

Fridge Magnets

Make a photo frame by sandwiching a picture to a square surface and topping with a matching square that has been cut out in the middle. Attach magnet stripping found in craft stores. Or get that wood cutter friend to cut out shapes, decorate and add magnetic strips to the back. Or buy sheets of magnet material and cut out shapes and decorate. These could sell nicely at a winter fund raising bazaar. Or again make simple gifts, package decorations or party favors.

Cinnamon Ornaments

Take a one pound jar of sweetened apple sauce and drain over night in a sieve lined with cheesecloth over the sink. When drained, mix in 8 oz. of cinnamon. Work together thoroughly between your hands into a ball. Take small amounts, tennis ball size, and press out onto waxed paper to flattened ¼ inch thickness. Cut shapes with cookie cutters and small holes on top for ribbon or raffia. Let dry thoroughly. Hang on tree or windows. Do not store these with the rest of your Christmas paraphernalia as they are still foodstuff and will attract pests. You can keep them in a bowl in the kitchen for a soft, sweet scent all year. Or add magnet strips and stick on your fridge.

Wreath

Bake a batch of cookies. Decorate and wrap individually in plastic wrap. Wash the cookie cutters thoroughly. Tie the cookies and cookie cutters to a wreath. Make a copy of the cookie and icing recipes and roll into a scroll. Attach to the wreath with raffia or ribbon bow. For a new homemaker or more spectacular gift, wrap a rolling pin and non-stick cookie sheets.

Jewelry

For kids cut shapes from poster board laminated after cutting shape, clay or bread dough. Attach jewelry pin backings or punch holes and add a jump ring to make a pendant, earrings or a charm bracelet. Use your imagination to decorate.

More sophisticated pieces can be made using paper mache. Cut out flowers and make retro 60’s brooches and hair barrettes. Be warned once you get started with paper mache, it is hard to stop.

Add a bit of ribbon or tiny flowers to a cookie cutter. Attach a jewelry pin to make a holiday pin for your blouse or coat. Attach to a barrette for an interesting hair accessory.

Souvenirs

Find representative cookie cutters from every trip. Hang them each year on your tree to relive the memories. Way more fun than another tee shirt. And they’re inexpensive enough to buy one for each kid. Give them their cookie cutters on their first Christmas in their own home.

Cookie Kit

Layer all the dry ingredients of a rolled cookie recipe into a jar. A mason jar works well. Print the recipe, roll it and tie it to the jar with raffia or ribbon. Tie on several cookie cutters. The colored plastic cookie cutters look especially nice.

Napkin Rings

Use mini cookie cutters as napkin rings for your holiday table. Or tie wide ribbon onto a cookie cutter and write each guest’s name as a place card.

Parties

Balloon weights
Name tags
Décor either cut something out or use the cookie cutter itself.

If this is your first time using cookie cutters, keep in mind the following tips:

Don’t overwork the dough. Mix the sugar and butter till its smooth and pale. When you add the flour, mix only until it is all mixed through.

Chill your dough for about an hour after mixing. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to keep out air. You want to work with chilled dough when rolling.

Don’t roll the dough too thin or you won’t be able to handle it. Trial and error will get it right. 1/8th to ¼ inch is about right.

You can wrap rubber bands on the end of your rolling pin until your dough rolls out the thickness you want.

I like to roll my dough on waxed paper that has been lightly floured. I find it easier to lift and turn the dough.

Don’t try to roll the whole batch at once. Break off a piece of dough to roll and put the rest back in the refrigerator.

If dough gets too soft while you are rolling or cutting, put it back in the refrigerator. This is another good reason for using wax paper under your dough.

Frequently dust your rolling surface and rolling pin with flour but take care to do so very lightly. Adding too much flour while rolling makes the cookies tough.

Some bakers dust with granulated sugar rather than flour to avoid toughening the dough. Experiment with which technique you like better.

Another rolling technique, I use mostly for pies but it works for cookies too, is to roll the dough between two pieces of lightly flour dusted waxed paper.

Use a thin spatula to transfer cut cookie dough shapes to the baking sheet.

Cut your cookies and place on the sheet. Then refrigerate the sheet for a few minutes. Your cookie edges will be better detailed.

Choose larger sized cookie cutters. Cookies cut with tiny details are much more likely to break. And the larger sized cookies are easier to ice and decorate.

Keep a small bowl of flour nearby and dip your cutters and fingers if you have a sticky problem. If you find your cookie cutters are sticking to the dough, dip the bottom of the cutter into your flour bowl and tap off the excess flour. Then cut.

Don’t jiggle the cookie cutter. Set it on the dough and press straight down.

Metal cookie cutters are sharper than plastic and much easier for beginners to use.

For large or intricate cookies, consider laying your rolled dough directly on the cookie sheet and cut while already on the sheet. Just remove the scraps and you’re ready to bake.

Save the scraps and roll back into a ball. Scrap balls will be tougher because of the extra flour from rolling.

If you are using a tried and true cookie recipe, make all the dough you plan to bake at one time. Separate the dough into smaller balls, no larger than a softball. Flatten slightly and wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Freeze for up to a month. Then you can bake a few batches of cookies as your schedule allows.

Slightly advanced tip. Cut a smaller cookie and layer on top of a larger cookie. Make them hold together by wetting slightly with your finger. This is the time to use your mini cookie cutters.

Christmas Tree Cookie

A really popular cookie cutter shape is the Christmas Tree Cookie Cutter. Christmas tree cookies are so simple to decorate. A bit of green icing, a bit of white for snow and colored candies for ornaments make great looking cookies. These are especially fun for the kids to make because there is simply no wrong way to decorate your Christmas tree cookie. If you’re tired of the same ole, same ole tree, why not use a palm tree cookie cutter and decorate it for Christmas like that TV advertisement.

Santa cookie cutters come in many varieties. You will find Santa faces, Santa with a pack of toys on his back, Santa going down the chimney and Santa’s hat just to name a few. Santa’s hats are simple Santa cookies to decorate. Red icing and white on the tip of the hat. Make a few Santa cookies for the traditional plate of cookies left out for Santa. Sure way to get on the “nice” list.

Christmas Holly Cookie Cutter

So do you know how holly became associated with Christmas? Those good old Druids appreciated the tenaciousness of a plant that could bloom in the worst conditions. They considered it sacred and bringing it into the house was good luck. The Romans associated holly with Saturn, the god of harvest and agriculture. Saturn’s holiday, Saturnalia, was celebrated about the same time of year that we now commemorate the birth of Christ. Saturnalia was wildly popular with the Romans. The early Christians hoped they could tame Saturnalia by associating it with Christ’s birthday. The exact date of Jesus’ birth is unknown.

The legends of holly passed down today are that the prickly leaves represent the crown of thorns and that the berries were white until Jesus bled and they turned red.

Christmas Stockings

Don’t forget to hang your stockings with care. Then bake your stockings and decorate. Don’t limit yourself to red and green. Why not “tie dye” your stocking cookies? Slowly pour several small pools of different colored thin royal icing. Then gently swirl with a toothpick.

Candy Cane

Candy cane cookie cutters are a good choice for first time cookie bakers. Look for simple lines and a large, fat candy cane shape. The cookies will be easy to handle from the table to the pan and on to the decorating tray. Plus, they are just so darn cute.
Edible Christmas Ornaments

A really simple Christmas cookie to cut out is a Christmas ornament or Christmas ball. You (and the kids) can let your imaginations soar. And you can even hang the cookies on the tree. Just use a straw to make a hole at the top of the cookie before baking. They make really nice gifts too. Pretty cookies on a simple Christmas paper plate wrapped with colored plastic are always appreciated by friends, neighbors and service people.

Mini Christmas Cookie Cutters

Mini cookie cutter shapes are ideal for making festive food. Use them to cut fudge shapes and cheese for a snack platter. If you’re really crafty, you can make simple guest soap too.

International Ribbon Cookie Cutter

I love the international ribbon cookie cutter. A plateful of colored ribbon cookies makes a thoughtful gift or donation to a walk or other fundraiser. Here is a good list of awareness ribbons by color.

Vintage Cookie Cutters

Hang your vintage Christmas cookie cutters on your Christmas tree or wreath. If you have any bakers or antique collectors in your life, they are sure to appreciate a novel gift of vintage cookie cutters. You can give Christmas themed cutters or other shapes they collect.

Copper Cookie Cutter

Another nice gift or décor cookie cutter is one made of copper. I think you will agree among cookie cutters, the copper ones can not be matched for their intrinsic beauty.

Alphabet Cookie Cutter

Do you know your ABC’s? Well of course you do. And can you think of a more fun way to teach the alphabet to your little ones than a letter cookie reward? There is virtually no limit to the uses for an alphabet cookie cutter set. Bake letters to decorate a child’s birthday cake with her name. Limiting sweets? You can make cool crayons.

Matthew 2:1-3
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 2 “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him.” 3

The Christmas Star was there from the beginning. Stars are so easy to make and so traditional.

Nativity Cookie Cutter

Nativity scene cookie cutters are my personal favorite. I collect crèches, figures and nativity sets. I have a hand carved set made of olive wood from the Holy Land and a plastic canvas stitched set to name just a few. Making Nativity scene cookies is more ambitious than many of the other Christmas cookies you may cut. This is because there are a lot more narrow edges. And icing faces is particularly challenging. But don’t let this intimidate you if you want to give it a try. Cookies don’t have to be perfect. Half the fun is in the baking, especially if you do it with family and friends.

Dove Cookie Cutter

Frequently mentioned in the Bible, doves have traditionally been a symbol of hope and peace. Some traditions insist you must have a bird and nest in your Christmas tree as a symbol of life and to bring good luck. If you use a live cut tree in your home for Christmas, prop it up in your backyard after the holidays and let the kids string popcorn and berries and orange rinds filled with peanut butter for the birds. You can do this to any tree or bush in your yard. Watching the birds feed in winter is a great spirit lift. And if you have an indoor cat he will be entertained for hours watching from a window.

Christmas Angel Cookie Cutter

Luke 1: 27-29
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29

Luke 2: 10-15
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; 11 for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!” 15

Heart Cookie Cutter

While I do not know of any specific traditions linking a heart shape to Christmas, every culture uses hearts in their Christmas decorations and festivities. So go ahead and warm a few hearts with your home baked heart shaped cookies.

Dog Bone Cookie Cutter

Whether you are making people treats or doggie treats, dog bone cookie cutters will get plenty of use. Hint: if you don’t decorate the cookies, the kids might leave them alone thinking they are doggie treats. On the other hand, maybe you have the kind of kids that get into the doggie treats as well. And I know dogs love to get into the people cookies. Whatcha gonna do? Bake these great treats for your pup.

Snowman Cookie Cutter

No one knows who built the first snowman. But Frosty made the snowman a staple of Christmas. If you are lucky enough to have a White Christmas, you can build your own snowman. If you live in warmer climates, you can build a tumbleweed snowman or even a sandman. But no matter what the weather where you live, a few snowman cookie cutters can be the recipe for Christmas fun. Try this virtual snowman.

Mittens Cookie Cutter

Mittens are another cute cookie shape that is easy enough for the children to decorate. They won’t keep your hands warm but they will surely put a glow in your tummy.

Christmas Trains Cookie Cutter

Many families, mine included, set up a train set under the Christmas tree. The trains delighted me as a child. And they have delighted our cats over the years. One cat, Sugar, loved to lay across the track. Now they even have a train set you can put IN the tree. With the right cookie cutters, you can create your own North Pole Express. Or add a train to your gingerbread village.

Cat Cookie Cutter

No cat you say? Well bake one up for your railroad or gingerbread land. And once you have a cat, you simply must get a Christmas Mouse Oh Pooh! Go ahead and get yourself a whole zoo full of Animal Cookie Cutters.

Yes this Christmas season, you can bake up a batch of fun cookie shapes that your family and friends will ooh and aah over.

So if you have a kitchen, let us and our friends at Amazon and others show you the incredible selection of Christmas cookie cutters available online.

Nothing says Christmas quite like the glorious scent of fresh cookies baking in the oven. You may be a baking diva pulling out grandma’s treasured recipes. Or you may just grab a tube of cookie dough and roll it out. Either way, the aroma that ensues will instantly flood your heart with warm holiday memories. So get in that kitchen and rattle those pans. Cookies are mere minutes away.

You can’t have too many Christmas cookie cutters. When you aren’t cutting cookies, you can hang them on the tree or decorate a wreath. Because cookie cutters are in such demand all year round, designers are constantly creating new shapes. Both offline and online stores stock these useful tools because they are so much a part of so many holidays. Cherished cookie cutters are often passed down to younger generations and many people love to collect them.

Here are just a few popular cookie cutters:

Christmas Tree Cookie Cutter

For most people, it just isn’t Christmas without a tree. Bake up a batch with a Christmas tree cookie cutter.

Santa Cookie Cutter

Santa Claus is coming to town so you better watch out and be nice and bake up a batch of Santa inspired cookies.

Christmas Holly Cookie Cutter

If you’re lucky enough to have a holly bush or know someone who does, clip whole stems and stand in a large, tall vase for a simple, striking centerpiece. Remember, most Christmas plants should not be around your pets. Keep Fido safe and bake your holly cookies instead.

Christmas Stockings

Will your stocking be filled with goodies or coal? Guarantee yourself goodies when you bake up a batch of stocking shaped cookies.

Candy Cane

The two most popular candy cane tradition stories can be found here. And you just have to love this guy. Guess his wife wouldn’t let him in the kitchen.

Gingerbread Cookie Cutter

Two years ago, I attempted a gingerbread house with a 5 and 7 year old. It didn’t look like much but it was a wonderful Christmas activity. From now on we will stick to cookies.

Snowman Cookie Cutter

Snowman cookies are fun and so easy to make and decorate. Unlike the real thing, they won’t melt away but they also won’t likely last any longer on the cookie platter.

Mittens Cookie Cutter

Quick. How many mittens do you have with no mates? Like their cousins, socks, mittens have a way of mysteriously disappearing. Same problem with mitten cookies. Try baking two batches.

Cat Cookie Cutter

I like cats. A lot. I can’t have too many cat cookie cutters. Can you?
